About Fairtrail
More consideration. Better-informed structures.
Fairtrail exists to help growing SMEs explore structured finance when standardised lending processes fail to engage with the underlying opportunity.
Why Fairtrail
Many smaller businesses have credible opportunities, identifiable assets and proven demand, yet struggle to access structured working capital. The issue is not always the business itself. It can be a process that screens by proxy before the substance of the transaction is considered.
Fairtrail takes a more holistic view. We seek to understand the transaction, the assets or goods involved, the available risk mitigants and the structure that could support both the business and repayment.
Broadening access to finance does not mean weakening underwriting standards. It means applying judgement to the right information.
Our purpose
We want business owners to understand the structured-finance options available to them, how those structures work and what makes an opportunity financeable.
That informed approach can offer an alternative to defaulting immediately to unsecured funding, particularly when a viable transaction or asset can support a more appropriate structure.
Our principles
- Understand before deciding
- Assess the underlying transaction
- Make risk and structure clear
- Keep commercial conversations practical
- Apply robust underwriting with human judgement
