How it works

A clear process, with room for judgement.

We begin with the funding need, understand the underlying transaction and consider what a workable structure could look like.

From first conversation to funding

  1. Share the opportunity

Tell us what you need to fund, the amount involved, the timescale and the commercial outcome you are working toward.

  2. Give us the full picture

We will want to understand the business, management team, assets or goods, customer demand and the proposed route to repayment.

  3. We assess the underlying deal

Our underwriting considers the transaction and available risk mitigants rather than relying solely on standardised proxy criteria.

  4. Shape the structure

If the opportunity is viable, we work toward a structure appropriate to the asset, trade or receivables cycle.

  5. Complete due diligence

Any proposal remains subject to satisfactory checks, approval, valuation where relevant and legal documentation.

What makes a strong starting point?

  • A clear and specific use for the funding
  • Identifiable and financeable goods or assets
  • Evidence of demand or an underlying transaction
  • A credible route to repayment
  • An experienced and capable management team

Fairtrail's typical target funding requirement is between £50,000 and £750,000. This range is indicative, and no facility is guaranteed.
